In a quest to push for excellence and in a sheer bid to encourage and inspire female learners in secondary schools in the country to achieve top grades, one of the country’s revered institution of learning, Maranatha Private Academy has feted one of its top performing girls in last year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams.
It has been a long-standing tradition for the high-scoring Maranatha Academy, which over the years has proved to be a leading centre of academic excellence in rewarding hardworking and top-grade earners a token of both appreciation to those who have done well and an inspiration to those who aspire to achieve more.
Maranatha Academy’s founding Managing Director Dr. Ernest Kaonga at the Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) presented K1 million kwacha to one of highest scoring female students during the Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) annual top-girl awards ceremony on Friday in the colonial capital, Zomba.
Maranatha Girls Academy student, Jacqueline Salatiel, who smashed the 2023 MSCE exams with a heart-pleasing nine points was all smiles as she received K1 million from the institution’s director.
In his remarks, after giving the cash to Jacqueline Salatiel, Dr. Kaonga expressed his sense of pride with her achievement saying the K1 million bounty given to those who have done well as a way to motivate other students from Maranatha to work hard.
Dr. Kaonga said, with a matter-of-fact tone: “I want ladies like her to get inspired and work extra hard for our institution and the nation at large.”
Wearing another official hat and speaking in his capacity as president of the Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM), Dr. Kaonga commended Zodiak Broadcasting Station for the ‘awards’ initiative describing it as an excellent tool to motivate girls to engage an extra gear in their quest to succeed in their academic endeavours.
“At PRISAM, we also encourage girls to work hard in pursuing their education. What Zodiak is doing is great, and we commend them for that because they are honouring girls from both public and private institutions,” explained Dr. Kaonga.
Jacqueline Salatiel was among the 11 girls that have been awarded for their academic excellence, having scored between six to nine points in the said exams, and each one of them has received K200,000 from the privately owned media institution.
Maranatha Private Academy has also been awarding top performing students from varied schools, both public and private, in the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examinations, Junior Certificate Examinations (JCE) as well as MSCE.
