Malawi’s biggest hiking and fitness outfit, the Hill Climbing Club (HCC) on 29th June is launching it’s central region chapter ahead of the grouping’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Geared to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle, HCC is very in the process of launching chapters at district and regional levels.
“We have so far successfully launched Southern and Northern regional Chapters.”
“The central regional on chapter marks a milestone as it can proceeds planned launches for the Machinga Chapter in July, and more chapters in the year before we convene for our first ever National Annual General Meeting best by end of the year,” reveals the Principal Coordinator and co-founder, M’theto Lungu.
The launch will be marked by about 23 kilometres walking and running from Santhe trading centre to Nzinza ending at Engineers Battalion for official reception. It has been supported him, among others, Usingini Coffee, Rivermark Lodge of Salima, and Quick Reaction Security.
HCC has chapters in Mzuzu, Kasungu, Lilongwe, Mchinji, Mvera, Salima, Dedza, Machinga, Mangochi, Monkey Bay, Zomba, Blantyre, Mulanje, complete with established clubhouses.
HCC also boasts of chapters in Lusaka Zambia and Kilimanjaro Tanzania, membership in the UK, US, DRC, and South Africa.
“To ensure people lead healthier life styles, we have a variety of individual and group daily, weekly, monthly and periodic fitness programs that include personal or buzz group workouts at home, gyms, group walk n runs, rowdworks, distance targets, Hill and mountain hiking, and sanddune challenges.
“Further, there will also be talk sessions on fitness, health issues, environment and gender based violence, and game tourism and other field trips, and boot camps,” he adds, that professional experts in fitness, hiking, search and rescue, tactical survival skills, aerobics, are available for free to assist members.”
Members are supporting the event which will include lunch and refreshments with a participation fee of K10,000 per head.
