Automotive Products Limited (APL) says they are incredibly proud to be in partnership with the local businesses owned by Malawians.

APL has since given K5 million to Indigenous Customs and Clearing Agents Association (Iccafa) towards the hosting of its annual general meeting (AGM) at Sigelege Beach Resort in Salima District.

In his remarks after presenting the cheque in Lilongwe, APL national sales manager Gift Mandowa said being a black indigenous-owned firm, they feel proud to be associated with Iccafa whose members are also Malawians.

Mandowa said: “This donation signifies the strong relationship we have with the clearing and forwarding agents.

“We also appreciate the role played by clearing and forwarding agents in the country’s economy.”

Taking her turnIn, Iccafa deputy secretary general Clodina Milanzie thanked APL for the financial contribution, which will help in the organisation of the AGM.

“This contribution has come at the right time as we are preparing for the lakeshore conference. The money will help to meet some of the logistical requirements for the conference,” Milanzie said.

The association’s president Vusi Chirwa said in an earlier interview that this year’s conference will bring together speakers from the public and private sector who will share experiences in the industry and what services they expect from custom brokers.

The conference is scheduled to be held from October 5 to 6 under the theme ‘Creating connections and Blbuilding bridges together’.

The guest of honour is expected to be Minister of Trade and Industry Sosten Gwengwe.

Iccafa is a registered association of clearing agents in Malawi and is recognised by the Malawi Revenue Authority.

“We also appreciate the role played by clearing and forwarding agents in the country’s economy.”
