Moved by a quest to support quality education in the communities on as part of the organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Malawi’s leading home-grown financial institution and commercial bankers, FDH Bank plc has donated MK10 million to the Presidential Golf Committee in support of the 2024 Presidential Charity Golf Tournament.

The event is set to take place from Friday 11, to Saturday 12 October at Country Club Limbe, in the commercial city of Blantyre.

Making the donation, the Bank’s Head of Marketing, Levie Nkunika, emphasized the bank’s dedication to using sports as a means of promoting social empowerment. 

Said Nkunika: “FDH Bank is dedicated to supporting initiatives that are aimed at uplifting the people in the communities.

“We are always happy to help in causes and initiatives that empower the people through all the avenues including using sports as tool for promoting social empowerment.”

Nkunika reiterated the institution’s ongoing commitment to supporting such initiatives, which positively impact communities.

In her remarks, Sophie Mlumbe, trustee of the Presidential Charity Golf Initiative Committee thanked FDH Bank for the timely donation saying it will go a long way in helping the needy students.

Mlumbe said the initiative has been a success adding that the tournament is on course.

The Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme christened FDH Cares is formed by the international and local development instruments including UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) launched in 2015, the Africa’s Agenda 2063 and the Malawi’s 2063.

The motivation of the Bank is to make a significant contribution towards the global goals to end poverty, protect the environment, restore equality and peace thereby prepare a better future for the 8.5 billion people who will occupy the planet in 2030.

The tourney

The tournament will feature a competitive format that allows golfers of all skill levels to participate while also providing a platform for networking and building relationships among community leaders and stakeholders.

Proceeds from the tournament will be directed toward various charitable initiatives focused on education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, aligning with the government’s broader development goals.

In addition to the golfing activities, the event will include various entertainment and networking opportunities, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration among participants.

Sponsors and partners are also expected to showcase their commitment to social responsibility during the event.
