Geared up for the 2025 season, football giants, the Nomads, Mighty Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of legendary former striker, the iconic Bob Mpinganjira, as their head coach for now.
Before his confirmation as the head coach, Bob was the interim coach after replacing wantaway tactician Meck Mwase whose contract was terminated for deserting the team in absence without leave in November last year.
The Nomads’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Panganeni Ndovi has said that unlike last season, when the club chose the backroom staff, the new gaffer, Bob Mpinganjira, will pick his a technical panel of his choice.

“We have decided that Bob will be in charge of the team for a minimum of one year, then a decision on the way forward will be made at the end of the season.
“We have also given him the freedom to choose the people that he wants to work with,” Ndovie said.
Ndovie explained that the Lali Lubani football giants have not set any targets for the coach but will allow the coach the freedom to set his own targets for the success of the team.
“We don’t want to him under pressure, but we expect him to build a formidable team that can compete both locally and internationally and that he should win every match,” said Ndovi.
The Wanderers’s CEO added that the Nomads will regroup on Monday to start pre-season training readying up for the new season.

Mpinganjira’s appointment puts quells off speculation doing rounds that the Lali Lubani Road outfit had cast its net across the borders.
However, Bob Mpinganjira could not confirm his appointment saying that he has not yet recieved any communication on the matter.
“I have not received any communication to that effect, but once I get it, I will comment,” he said.
Nevertheless, the odds favoured the former Nomads striker after the club’s president and board chairperson, Thomson Mpinganjira, in December last year hinted at confirming him as the head coach.

Bob Mpinganjira guided the Nomads to win the Castel Challenge Cup after beating following a hardnosed Mzuzu City Hammers in a thrilling do or die final encounter at Bingu National Stadium in the capital, Lilongwe.
The Nomads’ chairperson, business tycoon and philanthropist said: “We have not decided on our next coach yet, but if we are going to have a Malawian coach, then it will be Bob Mpinganjira.
“If it is not him, then we will get someone from outside the country to guide the team in 2025 season because at the moment, I do not see a coach who can do better than Bob. He has given us the Castel Cup and it was just towards the end of the season.”
The Nomads’ move to give the former Wanderers and Flames goalscoring machine, Bob Mpinganjira, the freedom to choose his backroom staff follows in the footsteps of champions Silver Strikers and FCB Nyasa Bullets.
“We have decided that Bob will be in charge of the team for a minimum of one year.”
