Bank of the nation, National Bank of Malawi has donated K5 million to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) in support of their forth coming Annual General Conference (AGM).
The conference will be held from for 19 – 21 September 2024 in the lakeshore district of Mangochi.
Speaking during the donation at the bank’s Headquarters in the commercial city of Blantyre, National Bank Management Accountant, McField Maneya, said: “The support will boost the professional development of accountants in Malawi.”
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for ICAM, Noel Zigowa commended National Bank of Malawi for the kind gesture.
“We are grateful for the support from National Bank of Malawi for it will go a long way in helping accountants in the country.”
The theme of the ICAM 2024 conference is Navigating Economic Uncertainties Strategies for Growth with the Resilience.
In 2022 NBM launched a product targeting Accountants who are registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) and those involved in business which is registered.
National Bank of Malawi was established in 1971 through the merger of Barclays Bank DCO (Dominion Colonial Overseas) and Standard Bank.
The latter had its origins in the Republic of South Africa and had a wide presence across Africa and the merger brought together complementary operations, resulting in a nationwide distribution of assets and services.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute is held every year, and the Council members are elected at the AGM.
The Council reports to the AGM and it is responsible for formulating policies which are implemented by the Secretariat.
