Malawi’s psychedelic music sensation and internationally-acclaimed multi-award-winning music loyalty, Afro-pop and spectacular traditional sounds lynchpin, singer, rapper and songwriter Tay Grin will this weekend invade the city of the legends, Nottingham, in the East Midlands for a show which is billed to be an explosive firecracker.
Popularly known with his stage moniker, Nyau King, Tay Grin, real name Limbani Kalirani, who is currently in the UK on tour of duty will this Saturday, November 9th, 2024, hold a blazing concert for Malawians and everyone else at the heart of the Robinhood home, Nottingham City centre at the exquisite uptown entertainment mecca, Fusion Sports Bar.
In an interview, the kaleidoscopic versatile artist, the trending ‘Tchalosi’ hitmaker explains: “I am thrilled, and I am ready to give my people everything.
“I will also make sure people from other countries will feel the taste and greatness of the Malawian music.
“This is the show where I will perform not only to Malawians or Africans but every nationality of the world and this is a big stage, an international plinth, a world stage, if I may call it. I will give it my all and I promise them my best performance.”
The Two-by-Two composer, therefore, promises music lovers and levellers fireworks.
The Somone co-hitmaker with Zambian music great protege, Yo Mamps, Tay Grin, who is best known for his strong traditional Malawian sounds deep-rooted in central region’s ancestral ‘big dance, Gule wamkulu, says the Nottingham show will be unconventional in performance and presentation because it will exhibit an international feel.
Says the Nyau King: “I am grateful for the love my people shower me with, and I appreciate them to the core. Together with my people, we are trotting at the double towards making great strides in breaking the barriers into the international music market.”
“I am inviting Malawians, Africans, Europeans, Asians and everyone else to come and join us celebrating the Malawian way of life.
The Fusion Sports Bar director Edwin Ndenguma explains: “I implore Malawians to come and support their own this Saturday. We have a fantastic place here and we promise fun, a great performance and great entertainment.
“We are excited to host the Nyau King this weekend. It is time for Malawi to shine and fly high in Nottingham.” says Ndenguma, who is a also Malawian.
The show, which is expected to start at 9:00 pm prompt, will go on until the wee hours up to around 04: 00 am. The entry charges to the show are reasonably pegged at £10 in advance and £15 at the door per head.
Tay Grin will be supported by Manchester based master spinner DJ Hanny G, whose government name is Hannington Gondwe.
DJ Hanny G says: “We are ready to rock the music boat this Saturday in Nottingham and I urge my Malawian people to come in large numbers to support the Nyau King, one of the best performers in Malawian and African echelons.
“Tay Grin, is without doubt, a giant of African music and he commands the stage really well and I can guarantee that Nottingham will be on fire this Saturday.”
The Chipapapa composer is urging people to buy the tickets in advance so that they have an easy and good time on the day.
“We are selling advance tickets online and that is the easiest way to do it as paying at the door people will have to queue and the cover charge may be slightly higher.
“It is going to be a blast.”

Tay Grin is the founding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Black Rhyno Entertainment (BRE) to help promote other musicians managing events.
Tay Grin of the ‘Ufumu Paliponse’ matra founded, Black Rhyno Entertainment outfit in 2009, an Entertainment & Event Promotion company, which helps to promote events across Malawi.
In 2014, Grin won a Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) award for Best International African Act.
Two years later, in 2016, he won the BEFFTA Star Award in the music category and he has performed at the annual Lake of Stars, Stars Music Festival and in the same year also won the 2016 the WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards Best Traditional Video award, with the Video Chipapapa in which he features Nigerian megastar 2baba.
Tay Grin has also won numerous local awards like the Nyasa Music awards and the Urban Music People (UMP Awards) in categories such as best live act, best video and best Male artist.
In 2018, Tay Grin, who is regarded as a fashion icon, won the UMP Fashion awards for Most Fashionable Celebrity in Malawi.
