An industrious Nkhata Bay small-scale fish monger is the second winner of Dr. Triephornia Mpinganjira’s K1 million business development boost initiative dubbed ”Kuthandiza omwe alibe kuthekera kupita patsogolo initiative.”
25-year-old Francisco Mbotwa, who conducts his fish-selling business in the northern lake district of Nkhata Bay has received a capital boost after submitting his triumphant business plan to Mrs. Mpinganjira, beating tens of thousands applications.
Mbotwa, who plies his trade at Nkhata Bay boma, which is 49. 2 kilometres from Mzuzu, buys fish from the northern region city, Mzuzu, buys fish from fishermen and sells them to the residents for a sizeable profit.
A middle child in a family five, Mbotwa, whose parents are subsistence farmers wowed Dr. Mpinganjira and her team with her detailed five-year business plan, which thoroughly outlined how he would use the K1 million to grow his business to admirable levels.
Mbotwa, a holder of certificate in financial accounting, having failed to secure a job ventured into fish mongering business to sustain his livelihood after he got financial support from his parents.
With the K1 million he has won, Mbotwa says he will work extra hard to ensure that he grows his business to the size and levels of Maldeco.
“I want my business to be big like Maldecoand with this money I will be able to realise my dream of owning a big fish selling company.
“I would like to thank Dr. Triephornia Mpinganjira for changing my life. She is heavenly sent and may God protect her and she live forever,” said an elated Mbotwa.
He pitched to Mrs. Mpinganjira, that with K1 million he would buy a canoe and employ his own fishermen who would be going to the lake to fetch fish at least three times a week and that would help him get more profits.
Mpinganjira has said her plan is to make the initiative a long term project to help many youths.
The “Kuthandiza omwe alibe kuthekera kupita patsogolo” project will run until December this year, targeting 18 youths with business ideas, who will be awarded K1 million each.
In her remarks, the philanthropist, Mrs. Mpinganjira continued to encourage young people sending business idea until they passed the criterion.
She hinted that initiative targets young people with great business idea but lack capital for serious business venture.
Mpinganjira therefore called upon individuals, organisations who want partnership in initiative to come forthwith to reach more needy.
Launched March 2024, the initiative target 18 young people for MK18 million set aside for serious business ventures.
Last month Dr. Mpinganjira gifted K1 million to a Chikwawa 21-year old Chikondi Kamwendo from Bangula in Nsanje District as the first winner of the Triephornia Mpinganjira
Kamwendo, whose business idea is to buy and sell farm produce, dropped out of University school, due to lack of fees.
“I would like to thank Dr. Triephornia Mpinganjira for changing my life.”
