National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has donated K15 million towards the Banker Association of Malawi (BAM) 11th Annual Bankers Lake Conference, scheduled from 20 to 23 August 2026 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.
Under the theme ‘Industrialization: A Catalyst for Economic Renewal,’ the conference aims to help strengthen and discuss the strategies for Malawi’s economic transformation.
Speaking during the presentation on Thursday, NBM plc Employee Benefits Manager, Limbani Chakhoma, said the Bank’s support reflects the important role financial institutions play in economic advancement.

“As a financial institution, we have a critical role to play in contributing to the country’s development. The conference brings together stakeholders from across the economy to discuss issues that are central to Malawi’s economic progress hence our support to this conference,” he said.
He said the focus on industrialization and investment aligns with the banking sector’s role in financing productive sectors and supporting sustainable growth.
“Our support for the conference reflects our commitment to fostering dialogue, collaboration and practical solutions that will help drive Malawi’s economic transformation,” said Chakhoma.

BAM Chief Operations Officer, Chifundo Mmaniwa, expressed appreciation to NBM plc for supporting the conference, saying the platform will help generate practical solutions to the country’s economic challenges.
“We are grateful to National Bank of Malawi plc for supporting this initiative. We believe this support will go a long way in helping us generate practical solutions under this year’s theme.
“The platform is expected to bring together financial sector leaders, policymakers and industry stakeholders,” said Mmaniwa.
